Fleet Manager

Operators running large rXg deployments had no way to read fleet health without opening nodes one at a time. Fleet Manager unified thousands of nodes into a single, legible surface.

Design kickoff

When I was brought on board the Fleet Manager project, engineering had a proof-of-concept web app already working. My job was simple: take it and run with it.

I expanded on the app by first creating user journeys and building out the concepts of the most important pages first. The biggest goal was to create a visualization of a network deployment.

The cube node — three-tier health identifier: healthy · warning · critical

Where it started — Fleet 1.0

The first sprint started from engineering’s proof of concept and moved fast: a node card that made a single rXg legible, a home view that put the whole fleet on one screen, and the reporting and forms that turned it into a product. Four screens from that process:

Engineering's first proof-of-concept layout for Fleet Manager: a table of nodes with gauges
Fleet 1.0 home concept: isometric cube nodes above a table of node throughput gauges
Fleet 1.0 node card concept: the cube node with a heartbeat trace and health, expiration and backup actions
Fleet 1.0 aggregated reports concept: account groups, shared credentials and bandwidth charts

What shipped

Fleet Manager 1.0 quickly became one of our main marketing stories and main demo portal.

04 · Evolution

Fleet 2.0

As AI became seriously integrated into everyone’s workflows, we launched a rebrand. That, plus Creative and Engineering working more closely together, drove a real overhaul of the UI.

Fleet Manager 2.0 is one of the biggest product updates the company has shipped. Its new UI and features are now the main talking points in meetings with high-value customers.
